Lock Haven University held a Veterans Expo yesterday at the student recreation center on campus. This was a chance for veterans to register for DD214s (discharge documents), and get free blood pressure and glucose screenings. There were door prizes, refreshments and a presentation of colors, with an LHU student, junior Patricia Barth, singing the National Anthem. A table was set up to make cards to send to soldiers and veterans and it was a big hit among the students. The goal was to help provide important information to veterans who need help finding out about benefits available to them. Above, Army Reserve Veteran John Buchan speaks with an LHU physician assistant student after getting his blood pressure checked at the PA Program glucose and blood pressure screenings booth. Below, Denise and Sam Shoemaker get their glucose screened. Sam is an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
