Driver killed Christmas Day in Bald Eagle Twp.

MILL HALL — A 31-year-old Montgomery man was killed in a fiery one-car crash on Route 220 in Bald Eagle Township just after 1 p.m. Christmas Day.

Nathan K. Crist of Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna.

State police at Lamar said Crist was northbound on Route 220 just south of Exit 111 and attempting to negotiate a left curve when he lost control of his vehicle.

The vehicle traveled into the left lane briefly and then back to the right, sliding sideways as it left the roadway on the east side of Route 220, police said.

After hitting the guiderail, the vehicle began rolling over starting with the left side first, and stopping on the embankment facing east approximately 50 feet from Route 220, police said.

The vehicle then caught fire and became engulfed in flames, police said.

Assisting at the scene were Castanea Fire Company and Martin Motors Co.
