Hay production workshop offered

MONTOURSVILLE — Penn State Cooperation Extension will present a hay workshop Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Lysock View Complex’s Chapel Room at 542 County Farm Road.

The program is for producers who are growing hay to feed their own livestock or producing hay for the market.

Jessica Williamson, professor of Forage Management at Penn State University, will be joined by local Penn State Extension educators to present strategies to produce high-quality hay forage and yield.

Program topics will include Managing Mix Stands, Forage Weed Control, Soil Fertility Management, Minimizing Dry Matter Loss after Cutting, Tips for Reducing Drying Time and Preservatives, What Does It Cost to Make Dry Hay?, Bale Handling, and Marketing Your Hay.

Seating is limited and pre-registration is required by Friday. Registration fee is $25 and includes lunch and continental breakfast.
