A block of East Main Street from Vesper to Mill streets was blocked off for a short time Tuesday as fire trucks flooded the roadway and the parking lot behind Jersey Shore State Bank and firefighters rushed to douse a blaze on the roof of Grieco’s Dry Cleaners and ensure that everyone got out of the building safely. The blaze started when a maintenance worker was attempting to thaw a chiller unit on the roof, according to Jill Grieco. She is unsure how he was thawing out the machine. There was no damage to the roof or the building. Workers and customers from the surrounding businesses such as Subway and the Dollar General were evacuated as a safety precaution. Companies responding included Lock Haven Hand-in-Hand, Hope Hose, Citizen Hose, Castanea, Mill Hall, Dunnstown, Avis and Flemington Goodwill Hose, along with Lock Haven EMS. The fire was called in at 11:45 a.m. and the fire was reported out at noon.
