Does this scene look familiar?
A railroad employee in Renovo, seen outside the main railroad shop, works to install tires that fit on the wheels of a train engine. Western Clinton County historian Charles Barnum, who is sharing this photo with other Express readers, says a similar scene is depicted in the mural in the Renovo post office. Built in 1943, the post office received the oil-on-canvas mural titled “Locomotive Repair Operation,” painted by Harold Lehman as a federal Treasury Department Section of Fine Arts project, under the WPA (Work Projects Administration). The mural is just as striking today as when it was first painted.
