CMMS mini-thon set April 13, seeks sponsors

MILL HALL — The Central Mountain Middle School will be holding its second annual Mini-THON on April 13. (Note: An incorrect date appeared in a previous article.)

This multi-hour event will bring together hundreds of students and teachers from CMMS for a common cause, conquering childhood cancer.

In order to hold a successful event this school year, we are seeking monetary and in-kind donations from local businesses. Cancer Support Group meets Thursday

LOCK HAVEN –The Cancer Support Group will hold its monthly meeting next Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in Conference Room B of Susque-View.

“Get Up, Get Motivated, Get Active”and “Mental Health and Cancer” are the topics for this session. It has been proven that exercise cannot only increase chances of surviving cancer but may also reduce the side effects of cancer treatment as well as improving overall health. The group will also discuss the importance of mental health care while dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Handouts from Coping Magazine will be provided.

The Cancer Support Group is facilitated by Fran Decker, MSW, LSW and hosted by Susque-View. The program is free and open to anyone who has a diagnosis of cancer, both newly diagnosed and long-time survivors.

Family members and friends are also welcome. The group meets the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in Conference Room B of Susque-View. For more information about the support group, call Fran Decker at 570-748-4302.
