Hi-Neighbor Committee names egg hunt winners

FLEMINGTON — The Flemington Hi-Neighbor Committee held its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 24 at Grove Park. Many children attended the event.

Bird enthusiast to speak at Covenant Cafe

LOCK HAVEN — Wayne Laubscher, a local bird enthusiast, will speak about “Falcons of Clinton and Lycoming Counties” at the next meeting of The Covenant Cafe, an early-stage Alzheimer’s activity group. The meeting is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St.

Laubscher is the Clinton County compiler for the Pennsylvania Birds publication and a member of the Lycoming Audubon Society board as well as the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy Technical Committee. A native of Clinton County, currently residing in Swissdale, he also coordinates the Audubon Christmas Bird Count centered in the Lock Haven area. Recently he worked as a biological aide for the Pennsylvania Game Commission and is currently employed as a quality assurance technician for Nutek Products in McElhattan. He bands owls and hummingbirds in his spare time.

Following the presentation, participants will work on personal scrapbooks entitled “A Life Well-Lived.” Participants are asked to bring photos of themselves throughout their lives.

The program will culminate with chair yoga led by Lock Haven University student volunteer Erica Berkowitz.

The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Outreach and Witness Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer’s Support Group and the Alzheimer’s Association. Participants are given opportunities to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs that help them remain as active as possible. New members are always welcome. LHU to host ‘Book Talk’ in Stevenson Library

LOCK HAVEN–Lock Haven University will host “Book Talk” with Dr. Daniel Shaw at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 in the children’s library inside Stevenson Library on campus.

Shaw, LHU professor of philosophy, will discuss his new book, “Movies with Meaning, Existentialism through Film,” which explores the different perspectives of existential philosophers on films. A question-and-answer session will follow.

The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

Lycoming Society plans

bird walk

ALLENWOOD — The Lycoming Audubon bird walk at State Game Lands 252, near Allenwood, will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 7, weather permitting.

This is easy walking in a prime birding location. Loaner binoculars are available. The leader is Dan Brauning. Participants will meet in the parking area just before the equipment buildings, on Alvira Road in State Game Lands #252.
