balloon release remembers Camron

KEVIN RAUCH/THE EXPRESS

A poignant moment took place before the girls softball game between Bucktail and St. John Neumann on Saturday afternoon in Farwell, as players from both teams took to the field to release 18 balloons to honor Camron Cozzi, a teenager who recently passed way following a bout with cancer. Neumann head coach Barbie Kreps-Stopper and Bucktail assistant coach Roy Cowfer each graduated with Camron’s dad, Paul Cozzi, in the Bucktail Area High School Class of 1983. Both teams wore special jerseys for Camron which included the #2, his lacrosse number. Many from the area followed Camron’s plight over the last couple of years through social media posts from Paul who now lives with his wife, Cyndi, in Bonney Lake, Wash. Camron passed away on March 10, his 18th birthday, due to complications from DIPG, a type of brain tumor.
