MILL HALL — The ninth annual Clinton County Fair art contest received 134 entries, the most ever, according to fair organizers.

The contest is open to seventh and eighth graders, and the winning entry is featured on the fair’s premium book cover.

The young artists created their designs around the 2018 theme for county fairs across Pennsylvania: “Farms, Families, Fairs, Fun.”

Shaylea Shreckengast, a seventh grader, won first place, and her art will be featured on the book cover. Her prize was $100.

Darci Page, an eighth grader, came in second place and received $50, and eighth grader Melaina Waite came in third and received $25.

All three Central Mountain Middle School students were presented with certificates Wednesday afternoon by Phil Courter, president of the Clinton County Fair Association. Other fair officials were on hand to congratulate the students and thank their art teacher, Jaime McCann, CMMS Principal Justin Evey and Assistant Principal Mike Baughman.

All of the 134 students who entered the contest will receive a one-day pass to the 2018 fair, to be used on the day of their choice.

Fair week is Saturday, July 28 through Saturday, Aug. 4, with July 27 as a registration and 4-H judging day.
