RENOVO — Each year prior to October’s Flaming Foliage Festival and crowning of a Flaming Foliage Queen, there’s another contest for the little girls and boys of the area who like to dress up and wear a crown.

It’s called the Flaming Foliage Festival Future Queen and Escort Contest, open to boys and girls ages 3 through 7.

The candidates have registered and now it’s time to get the public voting on who should win this contest, which is always fun to watch, as you just never know what these little ones might do or say. One girl will be named Future Queen and one boy will be named Future Escot.

This year, there are five girls and three boys competing.

They are:

1 — Madalynn Kay Winkelman, 3, daughter of Joy and Michael Winkelman of Renovo.

2 — Josie Brooks, 3, daughter of Troy Brooks and Kristy Serafini-Brooks of Renovo.

3– Audrielle Shearer, 3, daughter of Bryan and Kara Shearer of Renovo.

4 –Addalynn Jo Parker, 4, daughter of Samantha and Mitchell Parker of Beech Creek.

5 — Teagan Wertz, 4, daughter of Mark and Heather Wertz of Lock Haven.

6 — Tripp Lyle Ammerman, 3, son of Jeremiah Ammerman of Mackeyville.

7 — Mikah Mann, 5, son of Kyle and Kasandra Mann of Renovo.

8 — Jackson Heart Marr, 5, son of Danielle and Chad Marr of Lock Haven.

Now it’s time to get out the vote.

The last day to cast your votes is Sunday, Sept. 23.

Winners will be announced at the Flaming Foliage Follies on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

The 70th annual Pennsylvania State Flaming Foliage Festival is scheduled Oct. 12, 13 and 14 in Renovo. Highlights include a gigantic street parade through Renovo on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 13, and the coronation ceremonies on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 14, at Bucktail Area High School.
