Infant Development to receive $58,000 state grant

LOCK HAVEN – A childhood development program in Clinton County and a youth activity center in Centre County have been chosen to receive state grants. The Clinton County Infant Development Center was selected to receive a $58,000 grant to purchase a new bus for students.

“As a father, I know that children are our greatest gift,” said state Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Lock Haven. “And I firmly believe that every child should have the opportunity to receive an education and grow into a productive adult. That is why I was happy to help support the Clinton County Infant Youth Development Program’s purchase of a much-needed bus.”

In Centre County, the Mountain Top Activity Center will receive $50,000 for needed building and roof repairs as well as additional renovations.

“I look forward to the Mountain Top Activity Center opening its doors as an integral community center for our region,” Hanna said. “It will provide a fitness center and gymnasium for activities of all ages, but it will also serve as a place for educational and instructional programs too. I look forward to seeing the Mountain Top Activity Center succeed well into the future.”

Funding for both projects was made available through separate Keystone Communities grant awards. Operated through the state Department of Community and Economic Development, the Keystone Communities grant program can be used for planning activities, facade grant programs, accessible housing programs and development grants. It encourages public and private sector partnerships, and allows communities to tailor assistance to meet specific revitalization efforts.
