Cancer survivor to speak to support group
LOCK HAVEN — The Cancer Support Group will hold its holiday meeting, “Celebrating Life as We Celebrate the Holidays” on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in Conference Room B of Susque-View.
The guest survivor speaker will be Karen Macklem of Lock Haven. Karen is a retired nurse and a fifteen year cancer survivor. She will share her personal story about her cancer that was diagnosed at an advanced stage and her miraculous recovery and survivorship. Susque-View resident and Cancer Support Group member, Sue Eminhizer will accompany the group on the piano for a Christmas Carol Sing Along.
The program is free and open to anyone who has or has had a diagnosis of cancer, both newly diagnosed and long-time survivors. Family members and friends are also welcome. Attendees are asked to bring either a snack or dessert to share at this special celebration.
The Cancer Support Group is facilitated by Fran Decker, MSW, LSW and hosted by Susque-View. The group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in Conference Room B of Susque-View.
