LEWISBURG — Clinton County Commissioner Jeff Snyder was elected president of the board of SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) at last week’s public meeting.

Other 2019 SEDA-COG Board of Directors’ officers are Columbia County Commissioner Rich Ridgway, first vice president; Juniata County Commissioner Mark Partner, second vice president; Larry Reisinger of Perry County, secretary, and Dennis Van Benthuysen of Snyder County, treasurer.

The 2018 officers were Perry County Commissioner Brenda Benner, president; Snyder, first vice president; Ridgway, second vice president; Reisinger, secretary; and White Deer Township Supervisor Larry Seibert, treasurer.

Benner has been involved in SEDA-COG’s strategic plan and dairy efforts, which aim to bolster the agency and the region.

“Being part of SEDA-COG’s efforts has been a highlight for me. They are truly dedicated to improving the quality of life for their neighbors, and servant leadership is a hallmark of their core values. They honor this region with their hard work and determination, which is appropriate since that work ethic reflects central Pennsylvanians and is what defines and sets central Pennsylvania apart,” Benner said.

Snyder thanked the board for their selection.

“I’m honored to selected for this position. We are really seeing exciting things under Bill Seigel’s direction (SEDA-COG’s executive director), and it is a strength that we have 11 counties working together on both issues and positive endeavors that impact us all. I look forward to a productive year that further enhances the region,” Snyder said.

SEDA-COG Executive Director Bill Seigel thanked Benner for her service and welcomed Snyder as the incoming board president.

“Commissioner Benner has been an excellent board president and advocate for both the region and the agency. Together, we truly do accomplish far more than we do apart. We look forward to working with Commissioner Snyder as president and we thank them both for their efforts,” Seigel said.

Board member appointments and reappointments will take place in January. The SEDA-COG board is a 22-member, county-based policy board representing both public and private sectors.

SEDA-COG is a regional multi-county development agency, which, under the guidance of a public policy board, provides leadership, expertise and services to communities, businesses, institutions and residents.

SEDA-COG seeks to enhance growth opportunities in an environmentally sensitive manner while retaining the region’s predominantly rural character. The organization is both a direct service provider and a link to other resources that can be applied to a wide range of community and economic needs. SEDA-COG also is an advocate for the interests of its communities at the state and federal levels. For more information, visit www.seda-cog.org.
