New Keystone super to be hired tonight

MILL HALL — Keystone Central School District superintendent candidate Jacquelyn Martin is expected to be hired at tonight’s school board meeting.

Martin’s hiring is one of several items on the voting agenda.

Her contract (salary and benefits) – if approved – will be effective Feb. 1.

An employment contract has tentatively been agreed upon by the board and Ms. Martin, according to tonight’s agenda.

Details of that contract, however, have not been made public.

Another significant proposal on the agenda is a dual enrollment “memorandum of understanding” between the district and Lock Haven University.

It’s unclear yet what that means, but in the past eligible Central Mountain and Bucktail High School students could take a class at LHU and earn college credit while in high school.

There are several other big items on tonight’s agenda. The board will vote on the following items:

– To approve Resolution 100 to Limit Tax Increase for the fiscal year 2019-2020. According to the agenda, the Keystone Central School District has made the decision that it shall not raise the rate of any tax for the support of the Keystone Central School District for the 2019-2020 fiscal year by more than the index of 3.1 percent.

– To approve bills for payment in the amount of $4,314,563,52, with the secretary authorized to complete the necessary authorized to complete the necessary checks for payment.

– To approve the contract between Lincoln Learning and KCSD.

– To approve the 2018-19 Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee Members.

– To resolve that the Keystone Central School District Board of Directors appoints the Keystone Central School District Board of School Directors as the directors for the Keystone Central Career Technical Center and let it be further resolved that Boise Miller serve as the elected president and Roger Elling serve as vice-president of the CTC Board of School Directors for the year commencing Dec. 1, 2018 and ending at the board re-organization meeting in 2019.

– To approve an out of state field trip request for CMHS students to travel to Cumberland, Md., to attend a competition on March 16, 2019.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Central Mountain High School auditorium.
