Sampsel looks for another term as Centre sheriff
BELLEFONTE — Bryan Sampsel announced that he is seeking a second term for Sheriff of Centre County and will seek the Republican nomination for re-election in the May 2019 primary.
Sampsel, a resident of Bellefonte was first elected to the position as a Republican in 2015. Prior to that, he worked in the Centre County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff and Sergeant for over 12 years.
A Bellefonte Area High School graduate in 1988, he attended Penn State University in the Criminal Justice Field, went to Ft. Benning, Ga. for PA Army National Guard, and graduated from the 19-week Deputy Sheriff Academy Act 2 training at Penn State for PCCD.
He is a member of Pennsylvania Sheriff Association, NRA, Trout Unlimited, Pomona Grange, Elks and American Legion.
The Centre County Sheriff’s Office has multiple functions to the Court of Common Pleas to include various services of Civil process, warrants and inmate transports. The Sheriffs Office is also involved in many different community events, assist in reducing crime and supports other Law Enforcement agencies.
Bryan, his wife Ruth, daughter Hannah and son Cole live in Bellefonte and are members of the Faith United Methodist Church and also the Pennsylvania Sheriff Association.
