Local resident showing documentary on WW II veteran
LOCK HAVEN– Local resident Rick Bressler will be showing a documentary film he created “Fallen Not Forgotten,” about veteran Captain Lawrence J. Ritter, on Saturday, May 4, at Campus Theatre in Lewisburg.
The documentary is about Captain Ritter’s life, his career in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War 2 and the tragic training flight accident that took his life.
Rick discovered in a research project with the local veteran affairs office that the plane crash happened in the Coudersport Pike area. Last year he located a surviving family member and Rick organized a hike to the crash site as well as a dedication ceremony at the crash site. He also presented family member with Captain Ritter’s medals.
What originally started as a project has turned into a passion for Rick in doing research on past heroes. Rick has created a you tube channel as well as a facebook page with all of his work and research. He has become passionate in honoring veterans who have fallen and were nearly forgotten. He does his work study at the VFW Benefit Center as he is working on his degree in Social Work.
An article in February was written in the Standard Journal about his work on this project. This documentary was shown Nov. 30, 2018 at a fundraiser that was held to benefit the local office. The fundraiser was a huge success and the documentary received a standing ovation from those who saw it.
Rick is a U.S. Army veteran as well. His goal with all of his work is for all heroes to be remembered.
There is so much to tell about his journey in putting together this documentary. Rick would be more than happy to sit down and give detailed information about his journey.
