Brinker unofficial winner in write-in campaign for LH mayor

From Staff Reports

LOCK HAVEN — An unofficial count of write-in votes for two candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Lock Haven mayor in Tuesday’s primary election indicates Jeff Brinker has defeated Rick Conklin and will face Democrat Joel Long in the Nov. 5 General Election.

A tally of write-in votes listed on the Clinton County’s website shows Brinker defeated Conklin by over 50 votes with Brinker earning about 166 to Conklin’s 105.

However, it is emphasized that these numbers are unofficial and attempts to confirm the numbers with officials in the county’s voter registration office were unsuccessful on Wednesday. County offices close at noon Wednesday.

It is hopes that unofficial numbers from the voter registration office will be confirmedtoday.

None of the numbers collected to date will be official until the recount is completed. That recount begins Friday.
