LHU reinstates winter commencement

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University is reinstating its winter commencement ceremony beginning in December of this year.
The program was initially stopped back in 2017 due to a combination of the expense of the ceremony and a decrease number of students eligible to graduate after the winter semester, Elizabeth Arnold, Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations, said.
After students expressed an interest in bringing the ceremony back, President Robert Pignatello made the decision to reinstate the ceremony.
The first winter commencement ceremony will take place on Dec. 14, 2019 in Price Auditorium, Pignatello announced at the LHU Board of Trustees meeting Friday afternoon.
“Holding the ceremony in Price Auditorium will decrease the cost to the university while allowing a full commencement experience for our December graduates,” he said. Graduates will still be given the option to walk in the May commencement if they prefer, he added.
“I look forward to celebrating the academic achievements of all of our upcoming commencement ceremonies,” he said.
