JS Town Meeting begins Saturday

JERSEY SHORE — The 59th Annual Jersey Shore Town Meeting celebration will be held from June 29 through July 6, at the recreation field along Thompson Street in Jersey Shore.

There will be rides and free entertainment all week, a gigantic parade, crowning of the Tiadahgton Queen and Baby Sweethearts, and lots of food and other vendors. The week-long festivities will end with a magnificent fireworks display on Saturday night.

Events and activities get underway on Saturday, June 29, with the Queens Tea and Pageant at 6 p.m. at the town meeting stage on Thompson Street. In case of inclement weather, the pageant will be held at Independent Hose Co #1, on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Also on Saturday, there will be a Jersey Shore YMCA 10K Run at the Jersey Shore Pool Complex, with registration starting at 7 a.m. and the race beginning at 8 a.m.

Sunday at 7 p.m. the Jersey Shore Ministerium will sponsor Vesper Services, rain or shine, at the Town Meeting stage. Following the service, there will be an ice cream social sponsored by the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Monday will see a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening the 2019 celebration at 5:45 p.m. followed by a live musical performance by RIZE from 7 to 10 p.m., sponsored by Susquehanna Trailways.

Tuesday, the Uptown Music Collective will be performing live from 7 to 10 p.m., sponsored by the Jersey Shore Town Meeting, Inc.

The Grand Parade will kick off at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and following the parade there will be the Baby Sweetheart and Queen Tiadaghton crowning on the Town Meeting stage from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Independence Day, the stage will see a Tiadaghton Elm Ceremony at 10 a.m., rain or shine, and a Hometown Hero program to follow. A live musical performance from Corner Stone will take place from 7 to 10 p.m.

The Chris Ruble Band will then take the stage on Friday night, July 5, and Mason Dixon will play live on Saturday, July 6. Each performance will begin at 7 p.m. and conclude at 10 p.m.

A magnificent fireworks display, air and ground, will take place Saturday, July 6, at 9:45 p.m.

Monday and Tuesday, July 1 and 2, will be “arm band nights”, and advanced ride tickets can be purchased at Buttorf’s Hardware and Muncy Bank in Avis, or over the phone at 570-398-2117 Monday through Friday. Advanced ticket sales end Monday, July 1 at noon.

No alcoholic beverages, dogs, skateboards, or bicycles are permitted on the grounds per borough ordinance.
