McELHATTAN –A two-mile section of the Bald Eagle Valley Trail, which has been closed since a heavy rainstorm on May 29 caused severe erosion to the trail surface 1500 feet west of the Route 220 overpass, will reopen today.

The area of hazard has been clearly delineated with traffic cones, caution tape and signage.

The county commissioners have determined to re-open the trail today, but users are advised to pay attention to the signage and proceed with extreme caution in the washout area.
