RENOVO – What originated as a grant to get new playground equipment at the 16th Street Park in Renovo turned into something much more, as numerous groups from the area pitched in and made the eastern entrance into Renovo from Route 120 something that has the entire community proud.

The DCNR grant was the first grant the borough secretary Marsha Davis applied for and received.

In addition to DCNR, Dominion Energy employees and Renovo borough employees quickly jumped on board to cover the labor and in-kind costs – mainly to prepare and set in the new equipment.

The borough employees stayed on scene as the local girls scouts and 4H Clubs planted flowers and flower gardens throughout the location of the new parking lot and handicapped accessible pathway.

The Veterans Memorial Fund from the American Legion Post 442 also contributed as they paid for the iconic tank to be repainted as well as the eagles and for mason repair to the cracking grout lines in the wall of the Memorial.

It’s been commonplace to see volunteers at the 16th Street Park and War Memorial all summer and the results may best be summed up in community pride by all that had a hand in the renovation.
