AT THE PARKS
On Wednesday, July 25, at 1 p.m., there will be an “Astronomy Aspirations DiscoverE Program” at Kettle Creek State Park, and on Thursday, July 26, at 1 p.m., at Ole Bull State Park. This program is intended for children ages 6-12. Join the naturalist to learn some of the different constellations in the solar system, using star charts. Also, there will be an opportunity to learn about computer software that makes stargazing a little easier. The program will consist of a look at some of the constellations, a craft, and a game. Please note that this program will happen in the afternoon. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Nature Center.
Photo Scavenger Hunt
On Friday, July 27, at 3:30 p.m., there will be a “Photo Scavenger Hunt” at Kettle Creek State Park and on Satuarday, July 28, at 3:30 p.m. the event will be held at Ole Bull State Park. Bring a camera or cell phone for this high tech scavenger hunt. Find the items on the list, take a photo, and get a prize. Children will need the help of an adult in order to participate. This program may be cancelled in the event of severe weather. Meet at the Nature Center.
PA Black Bears
On Friday, July 27, at 8 p.m., there will be a program called “Pennsylvania Black Bears” at Kettle Creek State Park. Join the park naturalist to learn more about the black bears around Pennsylvania. Topics will include adaptations, diet, and a brief overview of the natural history of the black bear within PA. This is designed to be an informal program. Meet at the Nature Center.
World of Hellbenders
On Saturday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m., there will be a program called “World of Hellbenders” at Ole Bull State Park. Join guest speaker Pete Petokas to focus on one of the largest salamanders in Pennsylvania. Topics will include its diet, adaptations, and ways one can help the hellbender among other topics. Meet at the amphitheater.
