Moderate injuries in Route 220 crash

From staff reports

Moderate injuries were reported by state police after a one-vehicle accident on Route 220 South in Castanea Township yesterday morning.

According to the police report, Barbara Emert-Baldwin, 45, of Jersey Shore was traveling south on Route 220 in the left lane. The report said that about a tenth of a mile past the Lock Haven exit, at 9:27 a.m., Emert-Baldwin was distracted by her coffee mug falling out of her cup holder, and she allowed her car to drift into the right lane. She then lost control of her 2006 Pontiac G6 when she braked to avoid hitting another motorist, the report said.

Her vehicle traveled across both lanes and struck a concrete barrier on the right shoulder with its front end, then traveled back across both lanes and struck the guide rail in the center median with the front left bumper, said the report.

The vehicle stopped facing south, and was disabled form the crash, it said.

Emert-Baldwin, despite wearing a seat belt, sustained leg injuries and was transported by EMS to Lock Haven Hospital, said the report. She was cited for careless driving.

Goodwill Hose Co. responded to the incident.
