Police investigating sex assault in Philly garage

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A woman is hospitalized with extensive injuries after police say she was sexually assaulted in an apartment complex parking garage near the main campus of the Community College of Philadelphia.

Police say the 33-year-old was attacked around 11 a.m. Thursday at a garage on 17th and Callowhill streets that’s used by residents of the One Franklin Town Apartments.

She’s listed in stable condition at Hahnemann University Hospital. No arrests have been made.

Community College of Philadelphia spokeswoman Linda Wallace says the garage isn’t owned or operated by the college and isn’t used by students or faculty.

She says the college was closed Thursday for New Year’s Day. It’ll reopen Friday, with spring classes starting Jan. 12.
