Milheim man in prison on theft charges

MILHEIM – Timothy Moyer, 33, of Milheim was placed in Centre County Prison in default of $75,000 bail Saturday, on charges that he victimized his grandparents in a series of thefts.

Police said Moore is currently charged with one count each of theft and receiving stolen property.

The matter came to light when the grandparents, ages 75 and 74, said they suspected their grandson of thefts while he was living with them.

The matter culminated when their son said the grandson stole $20 from his wallet, was confronted and paid it back.

When the grandparents returned home from a funeral, they discovered the money they had hidden in the house was gone. While police were talking to the grandparents, Moyer sent a text message to them, apologizing for taking their money and promising to pay them back.

Moyer was interviewed and told officers he stole an estimated $200 to $300 from the relatives.
