Some charges dismissed, others continued against Centre trash haulers

BELLEFONTE – A Nov. 30 jury selection date with trial to follow has been scheduled for Pleasant Gap trash haulers who were charged with alleged illegal manipulation of fees to gain a financial benefit to their business.

The state Attorney General filed charges against Ray Walker Jr., 59, and Carol Walker, 58, last month. The charges relate to the operation of their trash hauling business, Ray A. Walker Trucking.

Law enforcement authorities allege the company illegally dumped Centre County municipal waste in the Wayne Township Landfill in Clinton County by obtaining a cheaper dumping fee.

In effect, the paperwork was changed to reflect hauling obtained at less costly rates for Clinton County while charging Centre County customers the more expensive Centre County rate, authorities allege.

Other charges allege that weigh tickets from the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority were altered and sent to customers.

Clinton County District Judge John Maggs dismissed several charges related to the statute of limitations and use of computers to unlawfully reproduce the tickets.
