Retail theft
MILL HALL – James Smeal Jr., 21, of Lamar, is being charged with retail theft and providing false identification to law enforcement for an incident that occurred about 1:14 p.m. Monday, state police at Lamar report.
Smeal allegedly attempted to conceal a phone case in his waistband and walked past the final point of sale at Walmart, Bald Eagle Township, attempting to leave, police said.
He was stopped by loss prevention associates and upon being processed, it was determined Smeal provided a false name, date of birth, address and phone number in an attempt to conceal his identity, according to police.
Harassment alleged
LAMAR – State police are investigating a case of harassment wherein a white woman in her mid 20s struck Jarret M. Kitchen, 32, of Lock Haven, in the face after a dispute about a vehicle about 4:50 p.m. Monday, Tpr. Michael J. Flook of the state police at Lamar reports.
Police said the unknown woman and two men met with Kitchen at 115 Firehouse Road, Lamar Township, to view a vehicle Kitchen was selling.
After a verbal dispute over the price and condition of the vehicle began, the interested buyer was leaving the scene and threw a set of keys toward Kitchen, who threw them at the woman’s vehicle, police said.
That’s when the woman allegedly got out of her vehicle and hit Kitchen, according to police.
Fell asleep at the wheel
LEWIS TOWNSHIP – Ammon B. King, 65, of Rebersburg was in a one-vehicle accident while traveling east on Route 192 in Lewis Township about 6:28 a.m. Tuesday, when he fell asleep while driving, Tpr. Chad Rarig of the state police at Milton reports.
The 2012 Ford Focus King was driving traveled off the south side of the road and hit a tree head on, police said.
King, who was not injured in the accident, was charged for careless driving, according to police.
DUI suspected
WINGATE – An unidentified 47-year-old woman of Howard was stopped for a traffic violation on Traceydale Road, Boggs Township, about 10:07 p.m. Wednesday and was subsequently taken for a blood draw for suspicion of driving under the influence, state police at Rockview report.
Possession of marijuana alleged
MILL HALL – An unidentified 22-year-old man from Williamsport was pulled over for a traffic stop for not having headlights on while the windshield wipers were activated about 12:49 p.m. Thursday, Tpr. Andrew R. Mincer of the state police at Lamar reports.
Police said they observed suspicious drug activity and Tpr. Aaron Tiracorda and “K9 Tom” assisted at the scene, helping with a probable cause search of the vehicle.
Upon searching, police found marijuana, according to police.
Misdemeanor charges are pending, police said.
