Police investigating two burglaries

MARSH CREEK – State police at Rockview are investigating a burglary at the home of Beverly J. Walker, 2925 Little Marsh Creek Road, Curtin Township, which took place between 8 a.m. and noon Thursday, while Walker was at an appointment.

Police said someone entered the home by kicking in the rear entry door. Once inside, police said, the burglars rummaged through the residence, causing substantial damage to the interior of the home.

Items removed from the home included a Dan Wesson .357 caliber revolver, numerous bottles of prescription medication and a large amount of expensive jewelry. Other items may be added to that list as an inventory is taken, police said.

On the same date, about six miles from this location, state police at Lamar responded to a reported burglary which police say may be linked to the Walker incident.

In this burglary, witnesses reported two white men in black hoodies leaving a residence in a hurry in a dark gray or dark blue Nissan or Toyota passenger car, police said.

Anyone with any information on either of these incidents is asked to call Rockview base state police at 814-355-7545 and ask for Cpl. Michael Gray.

Theft from vehicle

MILL HALL – A burglar stole items from an unlocked Chevrolet Malibu sometime between 11 p.m.?Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, reported Tpr. John Schall of the state police at Lamar.

The car was in a small parking lot near the brick house at 2024 Bald Eagle Mountain Road, police said.

The victim was a woman, 38, of Mill Hall, and the items stolen were a Tom Tom GPS, a silver cross-style necklace, and credit cards from Kohls, Macy’s and Bon-Ton, police said.

There has been a recent spike in thefts in the Mill Hall – Beech Creek area, police said. Everyone should be aware of unlocked doors, open windows, and other things that could invite thieves.

Items stolen from porch

FLEMINGTON – A person whom police declined to identify stole items from a Flemington woman, age 48, at 315 High St., Tpr. John Schall of the state police at Lamar reported. The thief said something about retrieving belongings, then stole a tote full of clothes and a DVD player from the rear porch at 3 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Truck hits pole

LOCK HAVEN – City police report a tractor-trailer driven by Greguy Delerme of Philadelphia struck a utility pole while making a U-turn at South Jones and West Bald Eagle streets at 8:06 p.m. Oct. 2. Police said a resident reported the accident. The driver told police he did make a U-turn but did not realize he’d hit anything.

There were scuffs on the truck, police said, and minor damage to the pole.
