Man accused of having child porn faces more charges

LOCK HAVEN — As Michael S. Grenninger’s case of sexual abuse of children in relation to manufacturing, disseminating and possessing child pornography continues through the local courts, the 35-year-old Castanea man has now been charged with indecent assault of an 8-year-old girl, according to state police.

Four counts of aggravated indecent assault, three counts of indecent assault and one count of endangering the welfare of children have been filed against Grenninger in the new case.

Already jailed on $250,000 bail at the Clinton County Correctional Facility on the charges filed in July, Grenninger last week was arraigned before Dist. Judge John Maggs on the new charges. Maggs set bail at $50,000 additional.

According to the criminal complaint filed by police, Grenninger was interviewed by state police Cpl. Rob Reeves at 4 p.m. July 25 at the Lamar barracks.

During the interview, the defendant admitted he recently had sexual-indecent contact with an 8-year-old girl, police allege.

Grenninger further admitted that he has an infatuation with younger girls and that a dress the victim wore caught his attention, police said.

The defendant admitted that, while in bed with the girl, he had indecent contact with her on a number of occasions while she slept.

Grenninger told Cpl. Reeves that he slept in the same bad as the 8-year-old girl approximately 10 times, but it was the last two times in June that the sexual contact occurred.

The defendant said he didn’t want to hurt the girl, and that he was remorseful for his actions.

He went on to state that he just wanted to ask for forgiveness and get help … and that he didn’t want to have these urges any longer, according to police.

Grenninger’s first arrest in July came after an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation in which a task force member with the identity of an 11-year-old girl was contacted by Grenninger over online chat and offered money in return for sexual acts, according to police reports.

Upon obtaining and serving a search warrant on his residence, police found numerous electronic devices, and evidence of child pornography was found on several of them, police allege. As a result, Grenninger was charged with numerous counts of sexual abuse of children, along with one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was assisted by Christiansburg Police Department in Virginia, Williamsport Bureau of Police, state police at Lamar and state police Troop F Polygraph Unit.
