LH woman gets probation in crash

WILLIAMSPORT — The woman who admitted to doing heroin before slamming her car into the Williamsport Sun-Gazette building was sentenced to serve 60 days on a monitoring device and two years of probation this week in Lycoming County Court.

Johnna R. Finan, 26, of 728 W. Third St., Lock Haven, was driving south on Hepburn Street with her then 6-year-old child in the back seat on May 11 just after 5 p.m. when she hit the west side wall of the building at 252 W. Fourth St., police said.

She admitted to doing heroin just 30 minutes before the crash and police said they found three bags of heroin stashed in her bra.

Both she and her child suffered minor injuries in the crash, police said.

Finan pleaded guilty in September to recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence of heroin, and possession of a controlled substance.

The other three charges that had been lodged against Finan — endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving — were dismissed.

She was given credit Tuesday for serving nearly a month in jail on a probation violation following her arrest. The monitoring device attached to Finan’s sentence is an alcohol unit and she also was ordered to pay $2,000 in fines.
