Two vehicle crash

BELLEFONTE –A driver and their passenger were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Life Link EMS after a two vehicle crash that occurred on General Potter Highway, Potter Twp., Centre County on Feb. 16 at 4:20 p.m., state police at Rockview said.

Heather Occinaldi-Torres, 33, of Lewistown, was slowing to attempt a right hand turn into a parking lot when a 2007 International Harvester driven by Matthew R. Birk, 32, of Conemaugh, Pa., struck the rear of her vehicle, police said.

The impact from Birk’s vehicle pushed Occinaldi-Torres’s vehicle into a truck which was parked on a front lawn, police said.

Both Occinaldi-Torres and her passenger, Joseph D. Freeman, 27, of Lewistown, were transported by EMS for suspected injuries, police said.

DUI and littering alleged

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview initiated a traffic stop after a 47-year-old Karthus, Pa. man was accused of a littering violation.

The incident occurred on Jan. 17 at about 7:28 a.m., police said.

The man was subsequently arrested for DUI, police said.

Charges pending.

Vehicle rearended

BELLEFONTE — No one was injured in a two vehicle crash that occurred on Feb. 16 at 4:48 p.m. on Interstate 99 at Shiloh Road, state police at Rockview said.

Scott M. Milander, 41, of State College, was driving his 2014 Mazda CX5 northbound on the northbound off ramp of Interstate 99 at Shiloh Road, police said.

Roger A. Files, 58, of State College, was also traveling on the off ramp and had attempted to merge on to Shiloh Road, police said.

Milander failed to maintain proper following distance while also attempting to merge onto Shiloh Road causing his vehicle to strike Files’ 1998 Ford Ranger, police said.

Both vehicles came to final rest off the southern side of Shiloh Road with Files’ vehicle sustaining minor damage as a result of the crash, police said.

Milander was charged with following too closely, police said.

Gift card scam

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview are investigating a possible scam that occurred between Feb. 13 and 14 in the 100 Block of Bradward Ln., Boggs Twp., Centre County.

A 37-year-old Bellefonte woman was contacted regarding a pre-approved loan and was instructed to send $200 in Itunes gift cards to start the process, police said.

She was subsequently scammed, police said.
