Driver charged in

bicycle accident

LOCK HAVEN — Michael F. Quinn of Lock Haven was charged for driving into the intersection of South Jones and West Bald Eagle streets where his SUV collided with a bicycle at 3:57 p.m. Monday, city police reported.

Quinn was driving a Jeep Patriot SUV north on Jones when he stopped at a stop sign, then drove forward into the bicycle’s path, police said. Two boys who appeared to be teens were on the bike, one pedaling and the other standing on the rear foot pegs, and they may have been moving fast, according to the report. The bike ran into the SUV, police said.

The driver said he did not see the bike, according to the report.

The boy in front may have had a broken or dislocated left thumb, an injury to his right leg, a bruised lung and a bruise on his right eye, police reported. The boy in back had a cut on the left side of his face that required stitches and a pain in his left shoulder, police said. Both were taken to UPMC Lock Haven Hospital by Lock Haven EMS, police said.

Hit-and-run

CENTRE HALL — State police at Rockview investigated a hit-and-run accident at 11:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 on South Pennsylvania Avenue, just south of Kurtz Street in Centre Hall.

Police said a parked Toyota Tundra was sideswiped by a vehicle that did not stop. The driver’s side mirror of the vehicle was damaged, police said.

Harassing phone calls

BELLEFONTE — Shawn Allen Giffin, 33, of Bellefonte, was charged with harassment by state police at Rockview following an incident that occurred between July 23 and July 24.

Giffin is charged with making numerous calls and sending numerous texts to a female who resides in Spring Township during that time period.
