Woman defrauded of $2,500

JULIAN — State police at Rockview are investigating an incident of fraud that occurred through the internet on July 1 in Julian.

The suspect defrauded a 34-year-old Julian woman of $2,500, police said.

$800 stolen through scam

BELLEFONTE — A 71-year-old Bellefonte woman was scammed out of $800 after she was contacted on Facebook in regards to a grant, state police at Rockview said.

The incident occurred between Aug. 5 and 8 when the woman was instructed to send $800 in iTunes and Amazon gift cards to start the grant process, police said.

Simple assault

AARONSBURG — Trixie Lee Haebler, 59, of Aaronsburg, was charged with simple assault and harassment after an incident that occurred on Aug. 4, state police at Rockview said.

Haebler is accused of grabbing Lawrence Sipley, 81, of Aaronsburg, by the forearm, causing bruising and an open wound approximately three inches long and 2 inches wide, police said.

Sipley reported the assault on Aug. 5 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center after he was unable to stop the wound from bleeding, police said.

Charges were filed through district court, police said.

Vehicle attempts u-turn,

causes crash

TUSSEYVILLE — An attempted u-turn on the General Potter Highway caused a two vehicle crash on Aug. 10 at 7:32 p.m., state police at Rockview said.

Tucker J. Sigel, 24, of State College, was traveling east on the roadway when he attempted to make a u-turn in a construction zone, police said.

The front passenger side of his 2011 Ford Fiesta struck a 2014 Ford F-150, driven by David B. Hocker, 54, of York Haven, Pa., police said.

Hocker attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to due to concrete barriers on both sides of the roadway, police said.

All who were involved in the crash, including Hocker’s two passengers, were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured, police said.

Sigel was charged with limitations on turning around and both vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.

Act 64 violations

BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview reported four separate Act 64 violations between July 4 and Aug. 11 in Centre County.

r A juvenile known to police was found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia on July 4 in Spring Township, police said.

The investigation continues, police said.

r A suspect known to police was found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia on July 30 in Bellefonte, police said.

r On Aug. 9 at 11:52 a.m. an Osceola Mills woman was found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia in Rush Township, police said.

The investigation continues, police said.

r Police are investigating an incident where a 27-year-old Howard woman was found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, police said.
