Police: Drunk driver strikes mail box, guiderail and more
BEECH CREEK — Andy L. McDonald, 57, of Ickesburg, Pa., is charged with driving under the influence and not driving on roadways laned for traffic, after his 1989 Chevrolet Silverado struck multiple objects before coming to rest in a ditch on Monument Orviston Road, Beech Creek Township, state police at Lamar said.
McDonald was traveling on the roadway on Oct. 13 at 7:33 when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a mail box, police said.
McDonald continued down the roadway, leaving the roadway a few times and striking a guide rail, police said.
After crossing the intersection of Monument Orviston Road and Route 150, McDonald struck a guide rail and then a sign light before making his way towards the Dollar General where he left the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch, police said.
Through investigation it was discovered that McDonald was under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Charges are being filed accordingly.
Aggravated assault of officer alleged
JERSEY SHORE — Grant Long, 35, of, Jersey Shore, was charged with aggravated assault of an officer, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an incident that occurred on Oct. 9 at the 400 block of South Broad Street, Tiadaghton Valley Regional police said.
Long allegedly attempted to kick an officer, police said. Long was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail, police said.
Vandalism in Gallagher Township
WOOLRICH — State police at Lamar are investigating an act of vandalism that occurred at an unoccupied camp near Turkey Trot and Little Plum Run roads in Gallagher Township.
A wooden table and well pump were damaged and walls were spray painted, causing $350 damages, police said.
Two vehicle accident
RENOVO — No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Oct. 16 at 8:52 a.m., state police at Lamar said.
James H. Bratton, 62, of Renovo, was backing his GMC 8500 onto Barney’s Ridge Road, and failed to see a 2002 GMC Sierra, driven by Michael I. Heist, 59, of Hancock, approaching from the rear, police said.
Heist drove off the north side of the road, attempting to avoid being hit, but was unable to move far enough away, police said.
The rear driver’s side portion of Heist’s vehicle struck the rear passenger’s side of Bratton’s vehicle, police said.
Harassment alleged
MILL HALL — A 48-year-old Woolrich man was charged with harassment after an incident that occurred on Oct. 13 at 2:45 p.m., state police at Lamar said.
Robert Linn was at 284 Hogan Blvd., Bald Eagle Township, when he became upset and struck John Oberle, 50, of Jersey Shore, in the mouth with a closed fist, police said.
DUI alleged
WILLIAMSPORT — Kristen Coleman, 44, of Lock Haven, was charged with driving under the influence after a traffic stop in Williamsport on Sept. 29 at 1:13 a.m., state police at Montoursville said.
Police said they observed Coleman swaying back and forth between the traffic lane and crossing over the line multiples times in her 2007 Ford Focus.
During an investigation, it was found that Coleman was under the influence and was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, police said.
Charges were filed through district court, police said.
Possible DUI crash
MILL HALL — The driver of a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta was not injured after a crash that occurred on Oct. 11 at 6:44 p.m., state police at Lamar said.
George O. Cross, 59, of Renovo, was traveling east on Renovo Road near Franek Lane, when his vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of traffic, police said.
The front of the vehicle struck a guide rail before stopping in the east lane of the roadway, police said.
Police noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from Cross and determined he was under the influence of alcohol.
Cross was taken to Lock Haven Hospital for a legal blood draw and his vehicle was towed from the scene by Hillside Garage, police said.
Charges for DUI as well as not driving on roadways laned for traffic will be filed through district court, police said.
Retail theft
MILL HALL — State police at Lamar are investigating a report of retail theft at Walmart in Mill Hall.
A three pack of gloves, wolf hat, girl’s casual shoes, a half eaten mac and cheese container and boy’s boots valued at $31.04 were recovered, police said.
Tires punctured
RENOVO — Dana Green, 55, of Rome, Pa., reported that four tires on his Eco-Trail St., valued at $572.36, were punctured between Sept. 28 and 29, state police at Lamar said.
