One dead in two
CENTRE HALL — A Bellefonte man was pronounced dead at the scene of a two vehicle crash on Route 144, Potter Township, Centre County, state police at Rockview said.
The crash occurred at 12 p.m. on Nov. 21 when Cubby Bair, 77, was traveling north on the roadway and drifted into oncoming traffic, police said.
Bair’s 2006 Dodge Durango collided with a 2006 gray GMC truck, driven by Gary Stidfole, 65, of Lewistown, causing major damage to both vehicles, police said.
Bair was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers, police said.
Stidfole was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for his injures, police said.
An investigation continues into the crash, police said.
Driver falls asleep
CENTRE HALL — Traffic was shut down on North Pennsylvania Avenue for thirty minutes after a Milesburg woman fell asleep at the wheel, striking a telephone pole, state police at Rockview said.
Tamara M. Vaskovich, 30, was traveling north on the roadway when she fell asleep while negotiating an uphill curve, police said.
Vaskovich’s 2001 Lincoln-Continental Town Car traveled off the roadway, sideswiping a utility pole and striking a tree, causing disabling damage, police said.
Vaskovich was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injures, police said.
Her 2-year-old passenger was properly fastened into their safety seat, police said.
Vaskovich’s vehicle was towed from the scene and she was cited for careless driving, not driving on roadways laned for traffic and restrain systems, police said.
Centre Hall Fire Department assisted on the scene, police said.
False reports to
LOCK HAVEN — Cherokee Duwayne Hamilton, 31, of Lock Haven, was charged with false reports to law enforcement after he reported his vehicle had been damaged and eluded to a potential suspect, Woodward Township police said.
An investigation revealed that the complaint was falsely made and the damage to the vehicle was pre-existing, police said.
MILESBURG — Brian Auman, 39, of Julian, was arrested on Oct. 10 on the 200 Block of Mill Street for driving under the influence and drug possession, state police at Rockview said.
LINDEN — A 16-year-old boy of Williamsport and 17-year-old and 14-year-old girls, both of Linden, were found to be in possession of alcohol during a traffic stop near Water Street in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, state police at Montoursville said.
