Fatal cash

WATERVILLE — State police at Montoursville are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash at 1419 Little Pine Creek Road in Cummings Twp., having occurred on Sunday, March 17, at approximately 2:45 p.m.

A vehicle operated by Michael Conway, 40, of Dushore, was traveling south at an unsafe speed, which caused him to overcompensate around a curve and enter the northbound lane, leading to a head-on collision with a vehicle driven by Douglas Confer, 51, of Jersey Shore, police said.

Confer was not injured and refused treatment on scene, while Conway was flown via Life Flight to Geisinger in Danville, where he died due to complications during emergency surgery, police said.

Just two days earlier, another fatal crash on this same road happened further down, in the 5000 block range of Little Pine Creek Road, also in Cummings Twp. Brian Roberts of Carmichaels failed to maintain control of his vehicle and went off the road, striking a tree and sustaining fatal injuries, police said. Roberts was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
