Deer causes crash
HOWARD — A female driver was on her way to work at 4:03 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, driving along Eagle Valley Rd. near Sayers Dam, when a deer entered the road, state police at Rockview stated.
She attempted to brake and avoid the deer, but was unsuccessful, resulting in front end damage to her vehicle and a dead deer, police continued.
BELLEFONTE — A vehicle driven by Raymond Mendez, 32, of Mill Hall, was traveling west on East College Ave. at 6:01 a.m. on Friday, March 1, as another vehicle, driven by Rickey Shawley, 57, of Bellefonte, was traveling east, according to Rockview State Police.
The road was snow-covered and icy, and both vehicles were approaching a third vehicle, which was disabled and partially blocking the westbound lane, police continued. Mendez attempted to go around the disabled vehicle, but was struck by Shawley’s vehicle, police said, adding that there were no injuries, but Mendez’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene, and Mendez was charged.
CENTRE HALL — On Jan. 27, at 9:22 a.m., a yellow diesel heater was stolen from the Auction Barn on Penns Valley Pike in Potter Twp., from a 21-year old female victim, state police at Rockview reported.
Police also noted that Joshua Fultz, 33, and George Bathurst, 51, both of Spring Mills, have been arrested and charged with the theft.
A black Buick sedan with two middle aged males was observed at the location, and anyone with information on a male middle aged owner of a black Buick sedan located in the area of Penns Valley is asked to please contact Rockview State Police.
BLANCHARD — Dustin Askey, 33, of Blanchard, was arrested after being found to be in possession of suboxone, marijuana, and related paraphernalia at 11235 N. Eagle Valley Rd. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 12:27 p.m., state police at Rockview said.
