Police news – Sept. 4
JERSEY SHORE — Ryan Morgan, 40, of 47 W. Fourth St., Willilamsport, was charged by Tiadaghton Valley Regional police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly grabbing Nola Magargle by the throat and punching her at 368 Allegheny St. in Jersey Shore on Aug. 8.
Police said Morgan was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail.
DUI, careless driving
JERSEY SHORE — Shelley Read-Helm, 39, of Linden, has been charged by Tiadaghton Valley Regional police with driving under the influence and careless driving in the 200 block of Railroad Street in Jersey Shore on Aug. 3.
Police said her blood-alcohol content level was .22, and she was sent a summons to appear before a district judge.
Theft of fan
JERSEY SHORE –Bruce Giampapa. 35, of 244 High St., Jersey Shore, was charged by Tiadaghton Valley Regional police with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a portable fan from the Squeaky Kleen Laundromat, 342 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, on July 12.
Police said he was sent a summons to appear before a district judge.
Cruelty to animals
JERSEY SHORE — Levi Bennett, 29, of 1308 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore was charged by the local chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on July 3 with cruelty to animals and neglect of animals for allegedly abandoning two husky-type dogs at his homes, failing to provide necessary food, water and a clean shelter on July 3.
Bennett has since surrendered both dogs to the SPCA, and a warrant for his arrest was expected to be filed after he failed to appear for a recent hearing.
DUI, child endangerment
JERSEY SHORE — Sheldon Staron, 40, of 724 Pennsylvania Ave., Williamsport, was charged by Tiadaghton Valley Regional police with DUI, endangering the welfare of child and recklessly endangering another person on Route 220 in Piatt Township on May 22.
Police said Staron’s blood-alcohol content level was .19, and he had a 10-year-old child in the vehicle at the time. He was sent a summons to appear before a district judge.
JERSEY SHORE — Rita Fournier, 32, of 221 Shady Acres, Jersey Shore, was charged by Tiadaghton Valley Regional police with DUI, careless driving and driving with a suspended license in the 100 block of Route 44 South in Nippenose Township on April 27.
Police said her blood-alcohol content level was .19, and this was her third DUI arrest. She was released on $3,500 bail.
BELLEFONTE — State police in Rockview report that on August 24 at 7:07 a.m. Jason Adams, 41, of Port Matilda, was involved in a single vehicle crash on South Eagle Valley Road. The operator was taken for a blood draw which indicated that the driver had been drinking alcohol. police said.
No injuries in crash
BELLEFONTE — At 4:47 p.m. on Sept. 2, state police at Rockview investigated a two-car accident at the intersection of Penns Valley Road and Frankenberger Lane in Penn Township, Centre County.
Drivers were C.W. Royer, 87, of Spring Mills and Matthew Slavinsky, 50, of Aaronsburg.
Police said Royer was stopped at Frankenberger Lane and was making a right turn but failed to yield and was struck by Slavinsky’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported, but both vehicles sustained moderate damage to the side and front respectively police say.
Vegetative growth restricted
LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven police report that on August 12 at 11:04 a.m., U.S. Bank of Coppell, Texas, was cited for a grass and weed violation at 324 S. Highland St., Lock Haven.
LOCK HAVEN — On Aug. 30 at 10:29 p.m., Avery Eddy, 21, of 130 N. Fairview St. was issued a citation for violating the city’s noise ordinance, city police reported.
Police said the Eddy was having a loud party at his residence.
