Song service is Dec. 10 at

St. John Lutheran

JERSEY SHORE — St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., will recall a Lovefeast with a special service Sunday, Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. This will be the only service that morning.

The Lovefeast is a tradition of the Moravian Church which has ecumenical relationships with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It is based on the ancient tradition of early Christians serving a meal together whenever they gathered for worship.

The Lovefeast is a song service with a simple shared meal of a sweet bun and beverage, signifying unity. For the special service at St. John, a sweet bun will be shared in place of Communion.

Giving opportunities at United

LOCK HAVEN — United Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold its annual congregational meeting tomorrow after worship. A soup and sandwich fellowship will follow the meeting.

Tomorrow is the last day to contribute pencils, pens and highlighters for study bags to be given to Lock Haven University students through Protestant Campus Ministry.

The Sunday school is collecting hats, mittens and scarves for the Clinton County Women’s Center, as well as donations of cat and dog food for the SPCA.

Bishop to speak at Trinity

BELLEFONTE — Bishop Jeremiah Park will deliver the message and preside over Holy Communion tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Bellefonte United Methodist Church, 128 W. Howard St. Music will be presented by Trinity Choir, Penn State Graduate Brass Quintet and the Kidz Konnection children.

A reception with the bishop will follow.

The service will conclude the church’s celebration of its 200th year as a congregation.

St. Mark Lutheran sets dates

SNYDERTOWN — The congregation of St. Mark Lutheran Church will decorate the church after the 10:30 a.m. worship tomorrow, and a potluck lunch will be held that day.

Advent dinners and devotions are planned Thursdays, Dec. 7, 14 and 21 at 6 p.m., beginning with a light meal. The devotions will look at the origins of well-known Christmas carols. Those planning to participate are asked to sign up ahead of time.

A board game night is planned for 7 p.m. next Saturday. Bring a favorite game and favorite snacks.

Blanchard Church lists events

BLANCHARD — The children’s musical Christmas program at Blanchard Church of Christ will be presented by The Joyful Notes on Sunday, Dec. 10 during the second worship service, at 11 a.m.

The Wee Ones will give speeches at 10 a.m., during the Sunday school hour.

An all-church Christmas party is planned that same day.

St. John’s UCC plans gift swap

TYLERSVILLE — The annual Christmas gathering at St. John’s United Church of Christ will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 with a potluck dinner and a gift swap.

Bring a plate of cookies to share over coffee or hot chocolate while the gift exchange takes place. Gifts should be no more than $5 and should be universal for women, men and children.

Hanging of the Greens is Sunday

MILL HALL — Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church plans to kick off the Advent season with a Hanging of the Greens service tomorrow during the regularly scheduled service at 10:30 a.m.

Salona Lutheran meeting set

SALONA — The annual congregational meeting at Salona Lutheran Church will be held Sunday after worship. A soup and sandwich fellowship will follow the meeting.

Auto harp concert is tomorrow

HOWARD — Dave Boonie will play a Christmas concert on auto harp tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at Summit Hill Wesleyan Church.

Flemington UM to decorate

FLEMINGTON — Flemington United Methodist Church plans a Hanging of the Greens event tomorrow with a soup and sandwich potluck after church. Worship is at 10:30 a.m.
