Feb. 4 is ‘Souper Bowl Sunday’

Held the same day as the Super Bowl game, which is Feb. 4 this year, the Souper Bowl is a call to support food programs.

At St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown, each person is asked to bring a non-perishable food item to church that day to be given to the local food pantry. During the service, soup pots will be passed for a special offering to help feed people around the world. A feast of chili, corn bread, soups and desserts will follow worship, and those planning to attend are asked to sign up ahead of time.

At United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lock Haven, Sunday school participants will collect money to benefit Helping Hands, which offers free hygiene and cleaning supplies the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the church.

A Souper Bowl offering will be taken at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Mill Hall, to benefit the Clinton County Women’s Center.
