‘Babylon’ came to Great Island Church
LOCK HAVEN — Great Island Presbyterian Church held its annual Vacation Bible School the week of June 17. “Babylon — Daniel’s Courage in Captivity” focused on Daniel’s adventures.
The children, 3-year-olds through fifth graders, worshipped God through music, crafts, games, drama, snacks and missions. This year’s collection is being sent to support missions in Haiti.
Many of the participants joined the church for Sunday worship on June 24 to share the week’s theme song, “Stand Firm,” with the congregation.
Highlights from “Babylon” include:
r One little girl found a $20 collection that had been dropped during music. She went straight to the leader and handed it in.
r One child was sad to hear that VBS isn’t held all summer.
r One little boy was distressed that Daniel was trapped. (The skit that evening ended in a cliff-hanger.) He told everyone about it, including his dog and cat at home.
r A young girl collected all of her birthday money and donated it to the collection the last night.
