support food bank
BELLEFONTE — St. John’s Episcopal Church used the Mission Month of July to supply its food bank. Church members and friends were asked to give adult hygiene products, something always short in supply.
The response was overwhelming, according to Rev. Alexander Dyakiw.
In addition, he said, First Quality manufacturers were generous in giving a truckload of the products as a donation to the food bank.
St. John offers blessing
for new drivers
JERSEY SHORE — St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., plans a Blessing of the Keys service Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for all who have obtained, or will obtain, their driver’s permit or license.
Youth and families of the church are invited to join in an evening on the Hiawatha paddleboat set for 6 p.m. Tuesday. The cruise on the river will include a good old-fashioned ice cream social with a make-your-own sundae bar included in the ticket price. Also, Brent Kessler will offer interactive close-up magic.
picnic is Sunday
BLANCHARD — The annual church picnic at Blanchard Church of Christ is Sunday, with bingo starting at 4 p.m. and dinner around 5 p.m. The picnic is on a circus theme and those attending will see a clown, eat popcorn and snow cones, play games and (weather permitting) enjoy a water slide.
Bring a casserole to share. Meat, drinks, plates and utensils will be provided.
Also at the church, the annual Back to School Bash for the youth is slated for Bald Eagle State Park, Sunday, Aug. 19, following the second service at 11 a.m.
Bald Eagle UP to host free swim
MILL HALL — Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church has rented the Community Pool at Mill Hall pool for Sunday, Aug. 19 from 12:30 to 5 p.m., and invites everyone to come and enjoy an afternoon of free swimming. The playground also will be available. All area churches are welcome.
Coffeehouse-style service slated
MACKEYVILLE — Mackeyville United Methodist Church offers an informal church service coffeehouse style, Saturday, Aug. 18 from 7 to 8 p.m., with coffee, tea, cold drinks and baked goods, local musicians playing, and a brief inspirational message. Avis UM plans picnic, auction
AVIS — The annual picnic and auction for Avis United Methodist Church will follow worship this Sunday. Bring a casserole and a wrapped gift for the auction.
