Milligan College Choir in Concert at Blanchard Church of Christ
BLANCHARD — The Milligan College Concert Choir and Heritage, Milligan’s select a capella ensemble, will perform in concert at Blanchard Church of Christ, 161 N. Beach St., on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
The Concert Choir is an auditioned ensemble that proudly upholds a long tradition of choral excellence as the main touring choir of Milligan College, a Christian liberal arts college located in Northeast Tennessee.
In the past, the choir has performed at the invitation of the president at the National Prayer Breakfast and also on international tours to England, Ireland, and Mexico.
The choir appears on this concert as part of a biennial tour, along with concert stops in Maryland, New York, Ohio and Virginia. In addition, the choir regularly collaborates with the Milligan College Orchestra, the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, and the Symphony of the Mountains in Tennessee.
Heritage is a highly selective vocal ensemble that travels extensively throughout Northeast Tennessee and the broader region representing Milligan College. With over 35 years of history, Heritage is frequently sought out by church and community groups for their distinctive a capella style. The group specializes in many styles of music, from contemporary Christian, sacred classics, and spirituals to musical theater, pop acapella, and vocal jazz.
Both the Concert Choir and Heritage are led by Dr. Noah DeLong, Associate Professor of Music at Milligan. Having joined the faculty in 2011, he teaches a wide range of courses including applied voice, aural skills, conducting and secondary music methods and is the faculty sponsor for Milligan’s collegiate NafME chapter.
Outside of his work at the college, DeLong is the Artistic Director of the Appalachian Men’s Ensemble and the Grandview Christian Church Choir, both of Johnson City, Tenn.
Milligan College’s mission is to educate students to be Christian leaders in all vocations of life. Graduates of Milligan College hold positions in companies, education facilities, churches and missions around the world.
