Winter weather advisory issued

Sleet, freezing rain and snow in forecast for region

LOCK HAVEN – The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Central Pennsylvania, effective from 1 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Light sleet and freezing rain will accompany snow showers as a wintry mix will make travel hazardous starting tomorrow.

Mixed sleet and freezing rain will hit some areas, forecasters said.

Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch – plus up to two inches of snow could fall.

Snow is predicted north of Interstate 80; ice and freezing rain to the south.

A period of light snow will arrive about mid-morning Tuesday, forecasters said, changing to freezing rain and sleet by the afternoon.
