Tom Marino may join Trump administration

U.S. Rep. Tom Marino is reported to be leaving his seat in Congress to join the Trump Administration.

WILLIAMSPORT – U.S. Rep. Tom_Marino of Lycoming County is expected is expected to step down from his seat in Congress to head the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) for the Trump Administration.

CBS News is reporting that Marino, representing the 10th Congressional District, is in the final steps of paperwork with an official announcement coming soon.

Marino’s office declined to comment.

If Marino joins Trump, a special election will need to be held in the 10th District.

Such a race would garner national attention as Marino was the fifth member of Congress to endorse Trump during the primary last year.

Trump won the district 66 percent to 30 percent last fall, and Marino won the district by 30 points.

Marino was elected in the Republican wave of 2010, defeating incumbent Democrat Chris Carney.
