Threat against JSHS named today as the date

From staff reports

JERSEY SHORE — A threat was made against Jersey Shore Senior High School, the Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police Department confirmed Monday afternoon.

They said they are investigating.

According to parents, the school district has sent voice mail messages to parents reporting that the school would have heightened security today with extra personnel in the hallways.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jill Wenrich said a threat was seen written on a bathroom wall sometime last week. The threat targeted today as the date it would be carried out, she said, but the school has had extra security all week.

She also said she does not believe the threat is credible, but the school district is taking it seriously. If the administrative staff had thought students were in danger, they would have closed the school, she said.

Contrary to an earlier report, the school did not tell parents they may keep their children home today if they are worried.
