Roy M. Betz

It is with deep and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the death of Roy M. Betz of Millerstown, who passed away on April 20, 2016, at the age of 73.

Roy was born in Etters, Pa., in 1942. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and retired after 30 years of service from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

In retirement, Roy followed his passion to fish and guide on the Susquehanna River. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his friends and family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Roy is survived by his wife, Dr. Virginia ‘Ginger’ Baker-Betz, pastor of Millerstown United Methodist Charge, including Pfoutz Valley UMC, Millerstown UMC and Donnally Mills UMC; son Kevin Betz; daughter Karina Reed; step-sons Michael and Hans Greishaw; his sister Wanda Cassel; along with seven grandchildren, Ashley, Briana, Natalie, Kevin, Andrew James, Blake and Jesse.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Betz, his mother Arlene Schaffner Betz and his brother Sheldon Betz.

A service, officiated by Rev. Bruce Woolever, will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where Roy will be buried with honors.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join us in fellowship directly following the service at 1 p.m. at the Millerstown UMC, 23 High St., Millerstown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Millerstown UMC, 702 East Sunbury St., Millerstown, Pa. 17062.
