Albert A. Glantz

Albert A. “Al” Glantz, 88, of Lock Haven, died on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Susque-View Home.

He was the husband of Velda E. Starkweather-Glantz, who survives, and they had been together for 25 years.

Albert was a 1946 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, and he had worked at Hellars Farm, Rosenberg Farm, Woolrich Mills and Martin Bus Station, then retiring from Textron in 1993.

He was a member of the Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church and recently attended Phelps United Methodist Chapel. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #397 in Williamsport and the Loyal Order of Moose in Jersey Shore. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, television and baking. He enjoyed singing in the community choir and visiting people at Susque-View. He was well known for his “Whiskey Cookies.”

In addition to his wife, Velda, he is survived by two sons, Clair (Elaine) Glantz of Freeport, Fla. and Paul (Genia) Glantz of South Hill, Va.; two daughters, Sharon (John) Johnson of Mill Hall and Rosemary Glantz of Jersey Shore; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 12 step-grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; four step-children, Lana Studer of Kansas, Jolette (George) Garnier of Tobyhana, Lee Starkweather of Missouri, Davy (Cindy) Starkweather of Lock Haven; two sisters, Betty Hepfer of Liverpool, Peg (James “Duff”) Duffield of Avis; family friend Kay Starkweather of Avis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Glantz, and one sister, Ruby Glantz.

There will be a public viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 at Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, where there will be a Masonic service held at 7:45 p.m. There will be an additional viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at the funeral home where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Pastor Karl Steele will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Avis.
