Ruth Yvonne Spong
Ruth Yvonne (Pogue) Spong, 75, of Jersey Shore, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at her residence.
She was married to James Stiles “Jim” Spong, who survives, in 1979 and they have celebrated 37 years as husband and wife.
Ruth was born on Jan. 10, 1941 in Lock Haven and was the daughter of the late John Henry and Maude Ella (Myers) Pogue.
She was a member of the Life Tree Church, Jersey Shore where she was very active. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and was active and involved in her cancer support group.
In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by one daughter, Terresa L. “Tess” Mancini (Gary) of Lords Valley; two grandchildren, Nathan A. Krape and Amanda N. Mancini, both of Lords Valley; one great-grandson, Nicholas M. Krape of Port Jervis, N.Y.; one brother, Edward F. Pogue (Lee) of Hollywood, Fla.; sister-in-law Irene Fravel (Spong) of Howard; several nieces and nephews and very special friends, Tim and Chris McDonnell of Jersey Shore.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Earl H. Pogue, and two nephews.
There will be a public viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the Life Tree Church, 500 River Road, Jersey Shore, where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Pastor Don Peters will officiate the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Life Tree Church or to the Susquehanna Health Foundation, marked Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, Pa. 17701.
