Franklin A. Furl, Jr.

Franklin A. Furl, Jr., 70, of Lock Haven passed away Friday, Nov., 25, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Lock Haven to Franklin A. and Doris “Peggy” (Embick) Furl.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, the former Joanne Hill.

He is also survived by step-children Kathi (Keith Neidrich) Barner, Stacie (Steve) Wensel, Mark Barner and Susanne (Chad) Shaffe; special step-grandchildren Kyle and Bryan Strouse, along with six other step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; children Franklin Allen (Peggy) Furl III, Annette Pauline Rutty, Scott Edward (Kim) Furl, Barry Stevens, Lee Sipe; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a very special friend, Monty Bupp.

Frank retired from Your Building Centers and Beech Creek Manufacturing.

Earlier in his lifetime, along with former employees, Frank was instrumental in forming the organization CLEAN, Inc. The organization was instrumental in securing from both the EPA and the Pennsylvania Department of Health a 20-year bladder cancer screening program, which saved many lives.

Frank passed away after a gallant fight with pancreatic cancer.

His hobbies included reading, woodworking and gardening.

Frank’s extended family also included brothers Dennis (Kae) Furl, William (Deb Perry) Furl, Robert (Kelly) Furl; step-siblings Blair, Sharon, Ida, and the late Chuck and Darlene. Frank will be missed by many but mostly by his special companion Snickers.

A special thank-you to the Palliative Care and Hospice teams of Susquehanna Health.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.

Friends and relatives will be received from 5 to 7 p.m.

Interment will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ross Library.
